Gotta love my new profile picture of me and my dad Chillin at my aunt's house today, thinking about studying for my exams that start on Wednesday. Ugh. I mean, I don't think I'll fail, right... I think.

Anyway, most importantly, Hubie is coming to visit me here in Shanghai!!!!!! He'll be here in 2 weeks, and he'll stay for a week and a half. I can't wait!!!!!!

Anyone gonna be in Singapore this summer?

Shanghai...

the city really does grow on you

At Dong Jia Du Road... the contrast between the two adjacent neighborhoods is so stark... it's pretty crazy. i mean, you literally walk 1 meter and you go from the dilapidated houses, some without roofs and with makeshift walls made of sheets of tarp, and you walk into the brand new private apartments neighborhood.

china... gonna miss this place man... it's just... different, really raw. not necessariliy in the sense that it's poor, but in the sense that everything is still "in the process"... there are so many issues that are just raw, from the brand new business buildings, to the people whom God know's how they scrape by selling stuff on the street, to the kinks that are still so apparent in some of China's policies, and even to the realness of believers here... and so many other aspects.

and most of all, it'll so hard to say bye to some of the friends i've made here...

HAPPY 25th BIRTHDAY HUBIE!!!!!

Monday, March 06, 2006

So FINALLY here's an update on what's been going on:

--Spent a 2 month winter break (Christmas, then Chinese new year) in SF with Hubie
--1-year anniversary with Hubie, can you believe it?
--Hung out with my homegirl Emiri in SF.... Good timessss!!
--21st birthday in SF, finally got to use my ID!! No more Sherri Dairiki!
--Flew back to Shanghai the morning after my 21st birthday night, not the best planning there.
--Got back to Shanghai the night before classes started... again, not the best planning.

And so now I'm back in Shanghai for my second semester here. It was weird being back at first, without my old pals who went back to the US after the first sem, but now I'm hanging out with a lot more local peeps. In fact, so much so that when I come home at night sometimes I find myself thinking in Chinese. I have to stop myself.... too much man. I'm like, wait... what the heck am I doing. Even worse, the other day I was talking to Hubie and I said "dui......... I mean, yes". Geez man... I'm going to be hella fobby when I get back. I'll be sporting sweatpants and heels, or open-toed heels with skin-colored pantyhose socks.

Damn, can you believe I'm graduating next year? What the freaking hell man.
